Yes. After the one-time download during setup, every function works in airplane mode: the assistant, the inventory, the dashboard, the map, the tools, the vault, emergency mode, printing, export and the transfer between devices. Internet is needed only to fetch the model, content packages and map regions, and all of that is started by you.

On your device. Keepilo bundles a small open-source language model that is loaded into memory locally. There is no API call, no server, no queue. That is also why answers are short and why a phone with more memory answers faster.

No, and it is not trying to be. A four-billion-parameter model on a phone cannot match a data-centre model at general knowledge. What it can do is read the documents you gave it and quote them accurately with the page number, which is the useful behaviour for emergency questions and the one you get with no connection at all.

Check the source. Every answer that comes from your library carries a chip with the document and the page; one tap opens the original. If there is no chip, the answer is not grounded in your documents and deserves scepticism. For medical topics the app states explicitly that it does not replace a doctor.

Yes, that is the point. Import PDF, TXT or Markdown files: manuals, first-aid guides, the instructions for your generator, your insurance papers. The assistant answers from them afterwards.

Keepilo reads those with Recognise text, on the device, and indexes the result. The row then carries a marker, because text recognition misreads and you should be able to see that in an answer. The function is not on Windows yet; there, an OCR tool before the import still helps.

Yes. You download a country once, and after that Keepilo draws the whole map from that file: roads, places, water, contour lines and labels. There is no map service behind it delivering tiles as you pan.

It varies a lot: small countries are a few megabytes, Germany about 2.4 gigabytes, Canada considerably more. The figure is shown on every entry before you download, and you can remove a region at any time. Map data is deliberately not part of the backup, otherwise the backup would be larger than everything else combined.

Because people plan in countries. Anyone thinking about where they would go in an emergency thinks "as far as my sister's place", not "80 kilometres around me". Several countries can be downloaded at once and then sit on top of each other as one map.

An encrypted place for ID documents, policies, contracts and powers of attorney, kept apart from the library and invisible to the assistant. Encryption is AES-256-GCM, with the key derived from your password using Argon2id. There is no reset: the password is stored nowhere, not even as a hash. That is exactly why nobody else gets in.

No, deliberately. It shows fixed, human-checked sentences for situations that count, each with a pronunciation you can read out. You cannot type your own: a wrong machine translation of "no peanuts" would be more dangerous than none at all.

Yes. A shared supply keeps the devices of one household on the same state as long as there is internet: one of you books out the can, the other sees it in the shop on their own phone. It is the feature people use most outside of any crisis.

Yes, for your own devices. You book at the shelf with the phone and plan at the desk on the large layout, and both show the same stock without you exporting anything.

No. Pairing happens by QR code, screen to camera, valid for ten minutes and exactly one pairing. No email address, no password, no profile.

No. Every change is encrypted on your device (AES-256-GCM) before it leaves. The service carries sealed parcels; the key lives in your devices' keychain and is never transmitted. What the service does see (IP address, timestamp, parcel size) is spelled out in the privacy policy.

Neither. It is part of the one-time purchase, stays off until you start it, and can be ended at any time. Ending it deletes what sits on the server immediately.

You keep booking as always, nothing waits for the connection. Whatever has not gone out yet goes out by itself next time, whether that is ten minutes or three weeks later. For a real emergency the routes without internet remain: file, local Wi-Fi, and a QR code sequence from screen to camera.

None. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no crash telemetry. Your inventory, medical cards, emergency plan and chat history stay in a local database on your device. If you set up a shared supply, an encrypted copy of your stock data also sits on our server, one we cannot open; without that step there is nothing of yours on our side.

No. Not the question, not the passage retrieved from your documents, not the answer, not in anonymised form, and not for model improvement. There is no network code in that path at all.

The app processes no personal data on our side, so most of the machinery does not apply. The one moment data leaves your device is a download you start: the server delivering the file sees your IP address, as any download does. Payment data is handled by the store, not by us. No. The map shows your location only if you switch it on and allow positioning. Your device computes the position itself, which needs no internet; it is displayed, not stored and not transmitted. There is no background recording, and track recording only runs while the app is open.

Medical cards and long-term medication are special category data under Article 9 GDPR. They stay in the same local database and are never transmitted. The app lock (PIN plus fingerprint or face) plus the operating system's own encryption protects them on the device; exports that contain health data ask before they include it.

Per store account, not per device. One Apple purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac. One Google purchase covers your Android devices, one Microsoft purchase your Windows PCs. Crossing ecosystems (an iPhone plus a Windows PC) means two purchases. Family sharing is enabled wherever the store supports it.

iPhone and iPad, Android phones and tablets, macOS and Windows. The layout adapts: bottom navigation on a phone, an icon rail on a tablet, a sidebar with a detail panel on a desktop.

Plan for a few gigabytes for the language model plus whatever your own documents take. 6 GB of RAM or more is comfortable for the standard model; below that, Keepilo offers a lighter one. Everything except the assistant runs on any device.

English and German, complete, switchable in Settings. Everything follows: the interface, the backpack template, printed emergency cards, the handbook inside the app, and the language the assistant answers in. Further languages are a question of translation, not of rebuilding.

No, and there will not be. A browser tab cannot hold a language model, a local database and your documents in a way that survives a dead network, which is the entire point.

The household takes two minutes, the first twenty items about ten. After that the dashboard tells you something useful. Filling the medical cards is the part most people spread over a few evenings, and the app is built for that: every wizard is skippable and resumable.

On a phone you can scan barcodes; product data comes from an offline package, so the scan also works with no connection. Everything else is a short wizard rather than a form wall.

From the official stockpile table of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, converted to common pack sizes. The list names actual goods such as "6 × UHT milk 1 L", not calorie gaps. On request the assistant additionally reads your own books for the goods they recommend for a stockpile, each with book and page as the source. Civil protection agencies in German-speaking countries generally recommend around ten days of food and drinking water, plus medication, documents and a battery radio. Many households set a target of 14 or 30 days. Keepilo lets you set your own target and shows the range against it; the number is yours to choose.
